About Unleashed

Penny Murano bought the store, Abercrombie and Bridge in December 2006 from its founder Helen Lovejoy. In 2007, she changed the name of the store to Unleashed. Penny managed her first retail store at the age of 17 and went on to be a clothing buyer for Talbots and J. Jill. In 2001, she decided to have a change of career and opened Paw Play, a dog daycare in Southington, CT. In 2006, Penny and her husband Rob moved to New London full time and by chance, found out that Abercrombie and Bridge was for sale. A few remodels and a flood later, Unleashed is the store that we always wanted it to be. 

In September of 2020 our owner Penny and store manager Abbey have received their Pet Nutrition Coach Certification from the North American Veterinary Community. In March 2023, Penny became a Certified Pet Nutrition Specialist from DNM University.

Penny has a 16-year-old and now has 4 dogs - Ruby, a Weimaraner, and 3 French Bulldogs - Pickles, Oreo, and Hippo

Abbey Clarke joined our team in January 2018 and was promoted to Store Manager in 2019. Abbey brings her excellent customer skills from her years of working at her family's retail business. Abbey is the "queen" of our delivery service which we started in 2018. She can be seen zooming all around our area in our newest delivery car "Corona". Abbey received her Pet Nutrition Coach Certification from the North American Veterinary Community in 2020.  Abbey loves dogs and even has her special voice that she uses with all of the puppies that come in the store.  Abbey has a Chocolate Lab/Weimaraner named Poppy.

Pickles is the OG Frenchie and the reason for the fact that we now have 3! She is 3 years old. Her nickname is "Toughy Toughington". She is a chocolate brindle and was bred by Waters Edge French Bulldogs.

Oreo is our number two and is 2 years old. She is our sweetest of the 3 and looks like someone put her black markings on with a makeup brush. She is a black brindle pied and also was bred by Waters Edge French Bulldogs.

Hippo is number three and is a sassy girl! We waited for 2 years for this one! She is our tiniest and we hope she stays smaller than the other two. She is 6 months old. Hippo is a lilac Frenchie and also was bred by Waters Edge French Bulldogs.
